| Carrying the Title of "Champion" As most of you know Terry and Abbie have a special connection. Terry rode Abbie in 2008 District 4-H to the title of Champion Reinier in 13 & under and placed in the top in Halter, Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Horsemanship and Trail. He was not able to attend the state competition due to a class he was required to attend for school. Terry again rode Abbie this year (2009) at the District 4 - H show in Reining (only). Terry and Abbie once again captured the title of Champion. Unlike in 2008; Terry was able to ride in the State competition. This pair was able to capture the title of State Champion for Reining 14-18. From their this pair was headed for Little Rock, AR. Terry had a really nice ride and was able to place in the top 10 out of 39 riders!! Terry & Abbie accomplished their goals through hard work and determination. Terry's goal was made even harder to accomplish due to Abbie being bred. We bred Abbie on Feb. 14th of 2009. She was not able to be rode until "safely in foal". Terry was able to start her back in training in mid June. Terry took Abbie to 3 open shows before 4-H and they had some problems to solve. He came home and knew what he needed to do to get them back connected! This pair is "great" together!! |

| Anna Dupre 13 & Under - Champion Reiner - New Iberia - Sugasheaux 13 & Under - 3rd Place Judged Events - Terrebonne Livestock 13 & Under - Champion Walk Trot & Western Pleasure, 4th place all age Reining - FPHA This is a real success story: Anna started the 2009 year on her barrel horse but due to lameness he had to be retired. Which was very upsetting since she came a long way and took home the "most improved" award last year. After the realization of retireing her horse Anna picked up the pieces and decided she enjoyed "Reining". She purchased a new horse (a 4 year old) in March of 2009 and started showing in all the judged events. Anna is not a big fan of the Western Pleasure events, but had the knowledge that riding in those events helped her in her Reining. She has done a "great" job in all three associations she participated in; including Western Pleasure events. Anna has had alot of "bumps" in the road and shed some tears along with alot of smiles. Anna is was only 10 years old which makes her success even more amazing! Her parents have been beside her and even though it was hard, they backed up and allowed Steve to take Anna through her training. Anna, along with Logan, Terry, Desi, Delani and Lexi have all "grown" over this past year to realize that no matter what they face in the show ring, school, or life - if you work hard, have dedication, self confidence & knowledge; you will succeed in your goals. Steve is blessed to have Anna as a student. We wish her all the success for 2010. We would like to thank her parents for the support they have given in allowing Steve to train Anna. | Logan Brumfield Logan came to train under Steve when she was 10 years old. She came to ride a horse in the fall that was in training with Steve which was owned by a freind of the family. Shortly after her mother and grandmother decided to bring their coming 2 year old sorrel gelding for Steve to train. Steve rode "Coosa" for the first 30 days, then during the next 30 days: Steve would ride "Coosa" and Logan would watch and then Logan would ride "Coosa". During the final 30 days: Logan would be the only one to ride on days she came and Steve would help her. Steve would ride him on the days she would not come and after she rode "Coosa". Logan took "Coosa" to a 4-H show at 95 days of training. Logan placed 1st to win the Judged events buckle!! During the training of "Coosa" there were some rough times. Logan had limited training in judged events before riding under Steve. There were lots of up's and down's. Logan would tell Steve that he was talking "in a foreign language"... But she never gave up!! Logan has went on to be very successful in the show ring on "Coosa" and she decided to work her barrel horse on the same excercises and went on to win the All-Around saddle in Amite for 2008 . This was truely an accomplishment because she rode |
| against "real" pleasure horses!! Logan has a desire for "Reining" therefore, for Christmas her grandmother purchased her a daughter of Chocolate Chic o'lena out of a Hollywood Dun It mare. <pictured above> and Logan is doing an incredible job with her!! Logan also helps several younger riders learn "the basics". Now for the real amazing part - Logan turned 14 on Dec 2, 2009!! Her parents are very supportive even when Logan and Steve didn't see "eye to eye". They trusted Steve and backed him in good and bad times!! Logan has alot of people to thank for "pushing" her when things got alittle rough!! To add to Logan's accopmlishments She is the 2009- 2010 President of the FFA for her school. Logan is the Champion Judged Events winner at TLAFA taking home the saddle for the 2009 show season. "What will this pair accomplish in 2010?!?!" We Love you and always wish you all the best!! | Elizabeth Gilmore Congratulations to Elizabeth and Shes a Dun Reward aka "Bunny" on a very successful App. show in West Monroe. Elizabeth will end the year leading in the points for her age group!! Great Job!! Alittle bit about Elizabeth: She is the 10 year old daughter of Jerry & Britt Gilmore. She is a very dedicated rider and is eager to learn. Elizabeth starting riding with Steve in the end of September. Then the rain started also... Steve has not had alot of time with Elizabeth, but she is so smart and learns quickly that this team was able to work together and make it happen. Wait until next year!! Watch out because here comes "Elizabeth" and she is good.... |
| Are ready for the best little cowgirl? Here is the picure of perfect!! Riley is only 6 years old and has only riden a limited amount. She started the show season in March riding in Houma at the TLAFA open show. She ended the year in Houma as Reserve Champion in the 9 and under group. But, she ends the year with her first big show in Amite riding against girls as old as 14 (including her sister - Logan) in the 13 & under group. Not only did she show in the classes, here is how she placed: 1st Walk Trot, 4th Western Pleasure and 3rd in Horsemanship. Riley is an exceptional rider and is very competitive the older girls need to keep an eye on her. Riley can be a bit stuborn at times so "Steve has his hands full with her" according to her mom! We love her and think she is a great addition to the show team!! Best of luck in 2010 Riley - We're beside you all the way!! |
| 2009 Champion Western Pleasure and 2009 Champion Barrel Racer for FPHA in Amite!! Have you ever seen such beauty? Lexi is such a pretty young lady. Always very attractive in her clothing that compliments her horse. Judges can't help but notice her!! She sits up on her horse (s) with such poise. Lexi started riding at the Rocking N Ranch in 2005. She purchased her barrel horse Buddy in December of that year. She has riden under Steve on and off since that time. In August of 2009 she came back to the training side of Steve's program and has learned alot of excercises that has improved her and Zues both. Congratulations to you on both your horses!! We look forward to helping you acheive your goals for 2010!! |
