Training

Steve is one of the top trainers for "loading, ground work, starting and showing" horses. Steve starts between 10-20 two-year olds per year in addition to horses that require "finishing". He has a very rewarding program for the horses in training. The safety of the horse and rider are his first concern. The training is very educational, no need for ropes, "bigger bits", or any other devices. Understanding the horses and communication is the focal point of his training program. Each owner is encouraged to come ride with us during the horse's training time.

Steve does something most trainers do not do. With your permission he hauls his training horses to various events, trail rides, rides in the city and rodeo's.  This makes your horse trained in a more "well rounded" fashion.

Steve also trains the rider with the horse. Steve gives you lessons on your horse to show you how to handle different situations. Riders wanting to show their horse enjoy learning how to ride their horse in a show situation before they enter a show ring which improves the show ring experience. Contact us for more information.

We reserve the right to have any boarder removed if we feel their horse is not suitable for the ranch.

We reserve the right to ask a boarder to remove their horse and belongings should we feel they are not suitable for the ranch.

The safety of the horses is our first concern.

Showing

Here at The Rocking N Ranch we encourage our clients to show in local and registered shows. In Steve's training program he will show you how to train for the show pen, how to warm-up at the show and how to become "ring smart". Bettie had a wonderful show season in 2007 and 2008 along with the other students at the ranch. Visit our showing page to see how we are doing showing in our area. Bettie also showed in the Region 9 AQHA show in 7 events and the Cajun Classic show in Reining earning 1.5 points on "Abbie". Abbie will be bred to the stallion Roobix Cube for 2009.

Boarding

When available we offer stalls for rent by the month, we do not offer full board. The horse owner is required to come in the afternoon to feed and clean their stalls daily. We have hay delivered to us and available for purchase. Boarders may also supply their own hay.

We have 30 stalls. Currently, 25 stalls are rented and 5 are reserved for our personal horses. We offer pasture boarding - when we have available pasture. We currently have 47 horses on the premises this includes pasture and stall boarders.

Available for use when not in use by the owners there is a 50' round pen, 100' X 200' lighted arena, 45 acres of the property to enjoy, two wash racks, and a tack area. We have two Vet's on call along with two farriers.
